Wickedly Haunted Thursdays

Hey Blogland! Your resident Witch in charge here at Wiccan Make Some Too is starting a new series for her blog. Yup, you figured it out! It is called Wickedly Haunted Thursdays. I have a list of stuff to share with all of you but if you have a haunting story from your area or somewhere you have been, be sure to send it to me & I will gladly post it! Lets get this puppy started with a Wicked Haunting from where? Uniontown PA.! Yup, right here in my new town.

 Fayette County Courthouse
Uniontown, PA.

Uniontown was founded on July 4,1776 by Henry Beesen. The Courthouse was built in 1892 &  legend has it that people were hung from the balcony of the Clock Tower.

As the story goes, the last man to be hung from the Clock Tower balcony claimed to be innocent. Apparently, the executioner was in a hurry & asked the condemned  man for his last words 5 minutes early cause I guess he had someplace to be. The man was upset of course & claiming his innocence & the fact that he was to be shorted out of an extra 5 minutes of life he cursed the Clock Tower saying that all four clocks on the tower would always be five minutes slow. ( I for one would have said something a little more menacing towards whoever it was that let me take the rap for them for whatever the crime was ) Numerous attempts at fixing the clocks have been useless. They still run five minutes slow.

What is odd is that before knowing the story of this curse, the Hubs & I were driving by the Courthouse & the Hubs commented that the clocks all seemed to be functioning. I checked my watch & cell phone for the correct time. I remember telling him that yes the clocks did work but they were five minutes slow.............creepy.

Do you have a Haunted Place you want to share about or maybe you know of a place & would rather I check it out? Let me know my Blogland friends. Until next time!

My Dumpster Diving Hubs Did It Again

The Hubs had another great find while dumpster diving the other day. He is such a garbage genius! Check out the latest item he brought home:

At first he did not want me to "redo" this baby. But when I told him it could have a spot on the wall in the living room if revamped he eagerly gave in. Now starts the transformation.....

I had to remove the clock mechanism so I could paint the piece of wood that clock face was attached to.

Removal went without too much of a hitch ( I will admit to a bit of a hitch but hey, I had never dismantled a clock doohickie before)  Cleaned up the wood a bit as it had not been done in a while. Plus it had been in the trash!

 Removed the mirror.

 Starting the transformation

Cleaning off the whats it thingy that the clock face was on

Here is is all cleaned, recolored & hanging!

Look...it found a friend to hang out with!

My Book Vase looks right at home there
Yup I think that is where it's gonna stay for a while.

Me & My Broom & I Could Have Slept In

Morning Blogland. I hope everyone out there is well rested today. I could have slept in a bit today as I do not have to be at work until 3pm today. The surprise here is that it was not my Broom who woke me but the Hubs. He for some reason likes to roll over & put one of his pillows right in front of my face blocking any air I might get. Don't get me wrong, the pillow is not cutting off oxygen, just any cool air I might have gotten. With hot flashes that pop up at any time & darned near make me sick to my stomach, my hot flashes do not require help! If I am on my back the Hub's pillow will be right next to my head & I warm up instantly. Maybe this will help keep me warm come winter but right now it is a pain in the #@%! So, my Broom was happy to see me stomping down the stairs & heading towards the coffee pot. He let me have 3 cups this morning before dancing excitedly by the back door wanting to take off.

Crafting By The Book

Hey Blogland! Happy August 1st to all of you out there. I wanted to show you what I did to an old funky book that had gotten water logged at one time. I was gonna toss it but I thought, "what the hey....I'm a see if there is anything on the interwebz that I can do with this". You guessed it....I found something at a site called Earth 911.

I started off by laying my funky book on a piece of thin cardboard & marked the top & bottom so I had my size for my template. I then drew an outline of half a vase shape.

Then I cut that out with a box cutter. I made sure to keep a small cutting board under my project at all times. Did not want to carve the shape into my dinning room table.

With that done I placed my template on the first page of the book & started cutting around my template with the box cutter.

You can slice through several pages at one time. My book had 507 pages so you kinda want to go with a thicker book if you can. Try to find a damaged book at a yard sale or something so you are not mutilating a decent readable book. Cause that would be a crime almost.

Make sure your box cutter or craft knife is sharp or your pages will rip a bit. The pages will start looking like this after you have cut through enough pages. It is taking on the shape pretty well.

I had to hot glue the book spine a bit after I removed the front & back covers cause this baby was damaged quite a bit. Then I glued the first & last pages together & started painting it .............purple! Yes, would you have ever guessed that?

Here it is still in a bit of a rough state. Gotta clean her up a bit & then place her in her spot. More to come on that.
