Homemade Barbeque Sauce & Some Pie

Busy in the kitchen. Making pies & BBQ Ribs! Yup, I had a burst of stupidity energy & decided to get busy in the kitchen.

Here is a shot of the pies:

Yup, Buttermilk Pies again. Love those things. Now onto the ribs & BBQ sauce making!

I start off with a big ol' can of tomato soup, some po-t-rik (or you can use molasses) & some sugar. Put all this in a pot. Well not all of it. I normally do not measure things but I will guesstimate it for you. 1-large can of soup or you can use 2 small cans. About 2 cups sugar. And about a glub glub of po-t-rik. ( a glub glub is the sound it makes pouring out of the bottle.)

Next add about 1/2 cup of worchestershire sauce, about a 1/2 cup mustard, a 1/2 tsp. black pepper & just a smidgen of ground red pepper. Get this cooking up slow on a low heat.

Once it is starting to bubble give it a quick taste. Add a bit more sugar if it is not sweet enough for your taste or more mustard if it is not tart enough. Cook that for about 5 minutes over a low heat, stirring every so often.  Now before I start my sauce, I put my ribs in a large baking pan in a preheated 350 degree oven with about a cup of water so they don't stick & it helps keep the meat juices from burning.

I season the ribs with some salt, pepper & just a teeny tiny bit of sage. Let your ribs cook for about an hour & add your sauce.

Let it mix with the meat juices & make sure you cover the ribs with some of that yummylicious sauce!

I like my ribs to be falling off the bone tender so I set my bake time to 3 hours. One hour without sauce & 2 hours with the sauce. Check them from time to time & brush more sauce over the ribs while they are cooking.  When they are done they should look like this.

Believe me I had to be real careful getting this section out of the pan in one piece they are that tender! Mmmm....got me wanting ribs again & I just had some! Don't they look great! I will tell you the truth my Blogland friends....they are!  Let me know if you decide to make these ribs cause I will be over for dinner! Hope this post leaves your mouth watering for some major tasty ribs!

The other day I made a big pot of beef stew for the Hubs. I will make it again & do a post on it. Here is what it ended up looking like:

When I make this, I usually just eat the broth over crackers with a bit of the meat. I am not a big veggie fan but I sure love the stew juice.
